St. Louis Child Custody and Visitation Attorneys

In any divorce, the welfare of the children must be a top priority.  We are always focused on the best interests of the children involved in child custody and divorce matters.  We want to help you understand the applicable child custody and visitation laws.

Types of Custody

We work hard to get our clients the best possible custody arrangement.  Physical (residential) custody determines which parent the child lives with, while legal custody allows both parents to determine major decisions about the child's schooling, medical care, etc.

Joint legal custody gives both parents equal rights on major child related issues, while sole legal custody gives one parent the rights.  In a joint legal custody arrangement, both parents have equal say about the child's major life decisions.  Contact us to discuss your child custody issue.

Visitation

Few people realize that as part of a visitation agreement, you can not force the parent to visit with the child at the designated time if the parent doesn't want to visit.  You can force a custodial parent to make a child available for visitation, provided you are following the schedule that you agreed upon.

Removal of Children

When you have custody of a child, you must get a court order before you move him or her to another state.  The other parent has a right to visit with the child without having to travel to a different state.  Even if you were never married, and paternity has been established, you must get a court order before moving out of state.

Reasonable Rates

We understand that few people going through family issues can afford exorbitant attorneys' fees.  So we charge reasonable rates and work with our clients to keep expenses down on every case.  Any new client is eligible for a free half-hour consultation.  After payment of a retainer, remaining fees can be paid on an installment plan.  This approach enables us to provide the best possible client service.
